Texas Republicans were divided but ultimately pivotal in helping President Donald Trump’s "Big Beautiful" Bill clear the U.S. House on Thursday. The bill passed in a narrow 218–214 vote, and despite vocal criticism from within the Texas GOP delegation, all 25 Texas Republican representatives—and both senators—voted in favor.

In the president’s eagerness to score a win and extend tax cuts, he walked away from a key campaign promise on Medicaid. The GOP fears that will cost the party.

The wide-ranging bill is the vehicle for much of Trump’s domestic policy agenda, containing key changes that will affect daily life for millions of Texans.
