The F1 actor, 61, spoke to with The National in an interview published July 3 to discuss his latest racing film, when he explained what exactly went down that prevented he and Cruise, 63, from starring together in what later became the 2019 sports drama featuring Matt Damon and Christian Bale.

Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise spent years trying to make their version of "Ford v Ferrari" with "F1" director Joseph Kosinski.

Pitt noted that he was supposed to appear alongside Cruise in Ford v Ferrari, however, they ended up departing from the film because the Mission: Impossible star realized his character wouldn't be doing a lot of driving.
