Arkansas baseball pitcher Zach Root was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers with the 40th overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft Sunday night. His teammate, Charles Davalan, went to the Dogers with the 41st overall pick as Los Angeles tapped into the Arkansas pipeline with back-to-back selections.

After leaning heavily into high school talents in the last two drafts, LA went not just with a pair of college players, but teammates.

Root was selected by the Dodgers at pick No. 40, becoming the area's highest pick since Shane McClanahan was selected 30th overall in 2018.
