Cognition AI has acquired rival startup Windsurf following Google’s $2.4 billion deal to license Windsurf’s tech and hire top executives. The acquisition ensures financial benefits for all Windsurf employees.

Just days after Google hired acquired some of its top talent, AI coding editor maker Windsurf was acquired by Cognition.

In a blog post, Cognition co-founder and CEO Scott Wu disclosed that Windsurf has hundreds of thousands of daily active users. That installed base base is generating $82 million in annualized sales. Windsurf’s revenue from enterprise customers, in turn, is doubling quarter-over-quarter.
