Chelsea has been fined 20 million euros ($23.6 million) for breaking financial monitoring rules and Barcelona ordered to pay 15 million euros ($17.7 million) by UEFA.

The European football body, UEFA, has found Chelsea, FC Barcelona, Aston Villa, and Lyon guilty of breaching new financial rules. The new rule, which is known as the football earnings rule, is a regulation introduced to promote financial stability in football.

“Athletic Club forward Nico Williams has put pen to paper on a 10-year deal keeping him in Bilbao until 30 June 2035,” a statement read. “Nico’s new agreement has an increase in the release clause of more than 50% over the previous one.

Spanish winger, Nico Williams, has extended his contract with Athletic Club earlier today, July 4, amid strong transfer interest from FC Barcelona. Barcelona were just steps away from signing Nico Williams before Athletic Club announced that they had extended his contract until June 30,
