KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A tornado was confirmed to have touched down on Friday evening in Cass County, Mo. According to the National Weather Service, the tornado event started at 8:21 p.m. and ended at 8:23 p.m.

The National Weather Service released a preliminary report on the storm in western Davenport on Friday. Meteorologists surveyed the area Saturday. A preliminary report determined an EF-2 rated tornado with estimated winds of at least 111 mph.

The EF2 tornado that hit Phelps on Monday was the strongest in New York this year, according to the National Weather Service. Winds reached 115 mph, damaging homes and a barn, but the storm went undetected by radar due to a coverage blind spot.

People in the warning area are urged to seek immediate shelter inside a sturdy building and to stay away from windows in case a tornado touches down.
